The Bumper-to-Bumper Chevy Warranty

Your new Chevrolet comes with an outstanding warranty with roadside assistance and options for courtesy transportation, giving Chevy owners confidence and peace of mind. But with several warranty programs with differing terms and mileage limits, you may be wondering what’s covered and what’s not under your Chevy warranty. For questions about specific issues, it’s best to visit the service department at your local Chevy dealer. In this article, we’ll provide an overview to help you better understand your new car’s warranty.

The Bumper-to-Bumper Chevy Warranty

Bumper-to-bumper is as it sounds; it covers the entire vehicle from the front bumper to the rear, for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Parts, labor, and towing to the nearest dealer (if needed) are all free of charge for any repairs performed under this coverage.

This coverage only includes repairs for problems that are a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. It doesn’t include normal maintenance and replacement of consumable parts like tires and brake pads. It also doesn’t cover any damage to the vehicle that occurs as a result of an accident or failure to properly maintain the vehicle. Minor vibrations or cabin noise that are considered normal characteristics of the vehicle are excluded from coverage as well.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

This warranty coverage extends beyond the term of your bumper-to-bumper warranty and covers the engine, transmission/transaxle and transfer case, and drive systems such as propeller shafts, universal joints, and axle shafts. This warranty is typically valid for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, but there are exceptions. Some of the systems not included under this warranty are: sensors, wiring, radiators, and cooling lines.

More Warranty Coverages

In addition to the coverages discussed above, your Chevrolet vehicle offers Corrosion Protection, Rust-Through Protection, and two emissions warranties. It also includes Roadside Assistance for services like towing, lock-out service, changing a flat tire, jump-starting your vehicle, and more. The term of this coverage will vary, so refer to your Roadside Assistance plan for details.

Warranty Repairs at your Chevy Dealer

If your covered Chevy is in need of repair, the first step is to call your local dealer and schedule a time to drive or tow it in. To be eligible for coverage, your vehicle must be diagnosed and repaired by a GM dealer. Your dealer may be able to offer a rental or loaner car or other options under your warranty’s Courtesy Transportation plan.
